“Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with many incredible musicians. We have collaborated, shared many years of musical friendship and success in our individual careers. In 2017, I decided to create the Rubem Farias Big Band, where I began selecting the repertoire and writing the arrangements. In 2018, we started rehearsals and performed shows at Sesc and some Jazz Clubs in Brazil. The audience warmly embraced this project. However, our activities were interrupted by the pandemic.

My artistic influences extend beyond my fellow musicians. They include Hermeto Pascoal, with whom I have had the honor of sharing the stage. I draw inspiration from his recordings with the Tad Jones Big Band, as well as his recent works. I also find inspiration in the São Paulo Symphony Jazz Orchestra, where I attended many rehearsals alongside my teacher at the time, under the baton of Maestro Cyro Pereira. Other influential figures and ensembles include the Soundscape Big Band, Reteté Big Band, Jasmin’s Big Band (which makes us proud as the first all-women Big Band in Brazil), Maestro Branco’s Savana Band, which rehearsed for a long time at the Villa Lobos Conservatory in Osasco. Additionally, I find inspiration in Clare Fischer, Gil Evans, Jaco Pastorius, Thiago Costa, Nelson Ayres, and other great maestros, composers, arrangers, and Big Bands.”
